Gallery Showcase - Winter In Black And White
Santa Fe Monroe Gallery of Photography, 112 Don Gaspar, is pleased to announce "Winter In Black And White", an imaginative survey of great photographs with a winter theme or setting. Included in the exhibition will be images from around the world, dating from the early 1900's to the present. The exhibition opens with a reception on Friday, November 25, from 5 to 7 PM. "Winter In Black And White" will continue through January 29, 2006.
Photographs in the exhibit include images of the Russo-Finnish War of 1939, harsh winter conditions in the northern Soviet Union captured during its collapse in the early 1990's, leisure activities at the luxury resort of St. Moritz in the early 1900's, several ice-skating scenes including Truman Capote at New York's famed Rockefeller Plaza rink in 1959, glacier climbing in New Zealand in 1946, the 1960 Winter Olympics at Squaw Valley and celebrated NFL football games in snow, tranquil snow scenes of the American West and elegant cityscapes in snow.
